The UK loses 6 billion pounds in lost production each year to work related musculoskeletal injuries. Many of these are caused by poor working practices and are therefore ultimately preventable.

Ergonomics is a science which primarily aims to prevent any mismatch in an individual's capability and the job that they are required to do.

Physio at Work specializes in providing onsite assessment and training in ergonomics. Our services include:

All ergonomic consultants at Physio at Work are chartered physiotherapists holding post graduate degrees in Ergonomics. This dual qualification enables our ergonomic consultants to identify potential risks in the workplace or home (sport or leisure) which may be contributing to a person's pain or discomfort.

RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) explained

Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) is a collective name for physical disorders that arise from continual use of equipment (such as computer keyboard and mouse). RSI can manifest itself in a variety of conditions such as Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Tendovaginitis.

WRULD explained (Work Related Upper Limb Disorder)

WRULD is used to describe people who suffer from diffuse pain anywhere in the arm and/or neck. It can be caused by repetitive or forceful activities or by poor posture.

Several symptoms such as aching, cracking, numbness, pain, swelling, tingling, loss of joint movement, loss of strength, and diminishing coordination of the injured area, may come and go before becoming chronic.

The object is to identify the tissues under strain, determine the cause, treat the condition and address the cause so that it doesn’t recur.

Testimonials

I never thought I would, but I really enjoyed physiotherapy at Impact. I feel very enlightened, knowing much more about my condition, and how to improve it. I am much more mobile. The exercises I was given were sensible and achievable, if somewhat taxing, and really made a difference to my ability to cope with everyday life. This was our aim.
